Pastor Kathleen Jones Harris
Pastor Kathleen has served as Zion's pastor since January 2015. She is a native "Jersey Girl", born and raised in Morris County with family roots in the Welsh and Italian communities of Wharton, Dover, and Rockaway. Pastor Kathleen grew up in Boonton and lived many years in Denville before moving to Egg Harbor City. Pastor Kathleen values the sense of connectedness that is part of living in small towns and she enjoys serving with the people of Zion in a shared ministry that engages the congregation with the needs of its community.
Pastor Kathleen earned a BA in American Studies at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Pittsburg. She served for many years as a public librarian in New Jersey and enjoyed listening to people's stories, connecting people with resources that would help answer their questions, and creating programs and services that met community needs. She feels both joy and awe at the privilege of serving God's people in the ministry of Word and Sacrament. And she is always excited about equipping people for discipleship and helping them connect their stories to the most important story of all -- God's story of grace offered through the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ.
Pastor Kathleen's Master of Divinity degree is from Drew Theological School in Madison, New Jersey and she has a Certificate of Theological Studies from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.
